Located on Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, The Maker Center is a place that enables both fabrication and education. Our design scheme uses large scale trusses to guide circulation and foster interaction both within the building and between the building and the street front. The manipulation of natural light creates appropriate experiences for the various programmatic sections.

This project received the third place for Richard M. Gensert Memorial Scholarship, which was established in 2005 to recognize students' design work which expresses sensitive consideration of structural issues and their relationship to architecture. The project was done in collaboration with classmate Nahyung Kim.
