The Eco-Machine Housing project situates in the strip district of downtown Pittsburgh. Based on a series of analysis and manipulation of the ecological condition of the site, the project strives to provide residents with the opportunity to immerse in the natural scene of a reclaimed urban built landscape. Through an analysis of Pittsburgh climatic data and using Grasshopper DIVA plug-in, our team create a set back in the building section to facilitate rain water collection and an andulating facade for tailored sunlight shading. The entire landscape of the site is manipulated to enrich the circulation experience as well as collect water runoff across the site.
This project is done in collaboration with classmate Shannon Earnest.
